After a two day wait at Thiels, in heavy wind of course, a plane headed from the South Pole picked me up at 1:00 am this morning. We arrived at UG around 3:30 am and I was in my sleeping bag by 5:00 am. And then back up at 6:00 am because of the possibility that the Ilyushin would be flying from Punta Arenas to UG to ferry back a load of passengers and equipment. That flight was later cancelled because of weather . . . But we’ve received notice that it will be taking off soon and landing at UG at 3:30 am. So, it looks like a dawn flight back PA for the official end of the expedition! Sad to leave an expedition behind, but so happy to be making the homeward journey!
