Hurry up, wait and hurry up

Hello from Union Glacier. Attached is my farewell photo of Antarctica, as well as two photos taken at an icefall near UG. Absolutely spectacular scenery. I was able to take a 3-minute shower, my first in 5 weeks! And change socks and underwear. A trifecta.

After a two day wait at Thiels, in heavy wind of course, a plane headed from the South Pole picked me up at 1:00 am this morning. We arrived at UG around 3:30 am and I was in my sleeping bag by 5:00 am. And then back up at 6:00 am because of the possibility that the Ilyushin would be flying from Punta Arenas to UG to ferry back a load of passengers and equipment. That flight was later cancelled because of weather . . . But we’ve received notice that it will be taking off soon and landing at UG at 3:30 am. So, it looks like a dawn flight back PA for the official end of the expedition! Sad to leave an expedition behind, but so happy to be making the homeward journey!
